About the Hunan Cuisine

Hunan Cuisine

The southern Chinese province of Hunan, nestling at the base of the Dongling Lake, where the waters of the Yangtze river gather after their thundering passage through the three gorges  is justifiably famous in China for its cuisine. It is also known as Xiang cuisine,

It is one of the eight regional cuisines of China and is well known for its hot spicy flavours, fresh aroma and deep colour. Common cooking techniques include stewing, frying, pot-roasting, braising, and smoking. It is not always very hot however. Hunan cuisine is spicy but also includes soothing slow cooked stews, delicate steamed vegetables, delicious smoked meats and refreshing stir fries.

Although Hunan is one of China's most popular cuisines it is very much unkown in the UK.  Our restaurant is the only one in the North West with authentic Hunan cuisine served by Hunanese chefs.  we have a very wide range of dishes to serve all tastes, including vegetarian.
